    Office 2019 System Requirements

Before installing Microsoft Office 2019, verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. This guide covers the official specifications for Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS, including CPU, RAM, and disk space.

Important: Windows 10 or Later Only

Unlike Office 2016, Office 2019 requires Windows 10 or Windows 11. It is not compatible with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. If you're using Windows 7 or 8, consider Office 2016 or upgrade your operating system.

32-bit vs 64-bit: Which to Choose?

    Choose 32-bit if:

    • You use older add-ins that require 32-bit
    • You need 32-bit ActiveX controls
    • Your system has less than 4 GB RAM

    Choose 64-bit (Recommended):

    • You work with very large Excel files (>2 GB)
    • Your system has 4 GB+ RAM
    • You use PowerPivot, Power View, or large 3D models
    • Better overall performance and security

Note: Unlike Office 2016, Microsoft recommends the 64-bit version of Office 2019 for most users. Only choose 32-bit if you have specific compatibility requirements.

    Internet Requirements

    Internet connection is required for:

    • Downloading and installing Office 2019
    • Product activation (one-time)
    • Downloading security updates
    • Accessing files on OneDrive or SharePoint

Once installed and activated, Office 2019 works fully offline. Unlike Microsoft 365, it does not require periodic license validation.
